Akoustis Technologies' RF Filter Technology Featured in Strategy Analytics Report
Company's Technology and Design Cited as Game-Changer in RF BAW Filters for Smartphone OEMs
CHARLOTTE, NC -- (Marketwired) -- 10/29/15 -- Akoustis Technologies (OTCQB: AKTS) ("Akoustis" or the "Company"), a manufacturer of innovative Bulk ONE™ single crystal piezoelectric RF filters for mobile wireless, today announced a review of its technology and opportunities in the radio frequency filter market. Akoustis' technology was highlighted in an "Insight Report" (the "report") released by Strategy Analytics, a research firm based in the U.S. and the U.K. which provides investors and technologists with objective review on opportunities and trends in technology markets.
The seven-page report was originally published in May of 2015 and has been recently highlighted in press by Strategy Analytics on October 9, 2015. As a result of interest and requests from shareholders and design-clients in 'Phase One' of Akoustis' development cycle, the Company has obtained approval to provide the following excerpts from the study. Details to connect with Strategy Analytics for the complete version of the study are also included below.

TITLE: Akoustis Sets Out to Unsettle Established R/F Filter Supply Base
Snapshot: In May 2015, Akoustis, a one-year only start-up company with roots in RFMD, went public, raising $5.3 million. The company plans to use the money to fund development and marketing of its disruptive RF (radio frequency) filter technology, which the company says will lead to bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filter and duplexers that outperform products from Avago Tech and Qorvo in leading-edge LTE smartphones. Akoustis is the latest sign of the growing market for high frequency RF filters in smartphones and the importance of these for LTE.
The Opportunity: BAW filter shipments have grown with LTE, and will make up more than half of all filters shipped for cellular devices within the next five years. BAW filters provide better performance than SAW filters for high-frequency cellular bands and those bands that need very sharp frequency skirts to prevent interference between band and among devices.
Competition and Target Customers: (excerpt) If Akoustis' BAW technology lives up to the claims, Akoustis could change the competitive landscape in several ways (seven points listed below in the study).
Implications:...(excerpt) the emergence of Akoustis as a BAW filter supplier should increase the choices open to phone OEMs and RF front-end component suppliers in need of high frequency filters and duplexers. This could hurt the filter sales of Avago Tech and Qorvo, but in the end it could benefit the entire component and wireless industries by helping LTE.
